Start with physical measurements
SproutScale uses the dimensions, dates, rates and product values you enter. We normalize units before applying a formula and retain full precision until the displayed result.
Keep assumptions editable
Bag sizes, germination, application rates, spacing, efficiency and material allowances are visible inputs—not hidden constants. Defaults are examples and should be replaced with current packet, label, soil-test or supplier information.
Round at the purchasing boundary
Continuous quantities such as gallons and cubic yards are displayed to useful precision. Discrete products such as bags or seeds are rounded up only when a fractional item cannot be purchased or sown.
State the model
Every calculator explains its formula and geometry. Round pots are treated as cylinders, rectangular beds as prisms and roof catchments by horizontal footprint. Real shapes or field conditions may require adjustment.
Know the limit
These are planning tools, not agronomic, engineering, environmental or safety prescriptions. Local extension guidance, product labels, soil tests, codes and qualified professionals take priority.
